What to Expect

The Saplings group at Wild Wood Bristol Forest School is a great way for slightly older pre-school aged children (18 months and above) with their parents or carers in tow, to have the opportunity to play, explore and investigate the wonders of this beautiful woodland in the company of other families. Sessions are designed to support the children learn more about the nature and woodland environment while building relationships for other children within the group. Throughout the term, children grow in confidence and independence as they become more familar with the site and the group's routines. Though each session has a planned theme, ultimately the sessions adapt and respond to the children's interests and their enquiries. Familar activities help the children to follow their own interests, may it be playing in the den, cooking up a mud cake in the woodland kitchen, searching the site during a scavenger hunt, stream fun, or using real tools. Cooking over the campfire is something that sets this Forest School apart. Each session includes making something new over the campfire. Familar favourites include smores, popcorn, apple and black berry crumble, scones and vegetable fritters.
